Engineering: Senior Engineer, GMP & Lab Facilities - Sunnyvale , California

Job Description:General Position Summary: Responsible for performing all maintenance and repair activities at the Sunnyvale site. This position will also provide oversight and hands-on support to the lab environments, not limited to equipment. Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities: * Maintains Facilities, facilities systems and equipment in order to provide a safe, efficient and comfortable lab environment.Responsibilities include operation, repair and preventative maintenance of all lab and equipment; move and installation of equipment and or lab peripherals and other related duties. * Works closely with QA/QC and EH&S leads to ensure compliance is met at PCYC. * Provides validation technical assistance to support GMP efforts by providing support for corrective and preventive actions. * Provides lab support by analyzing environmental data to determine GMP trends and issues.May assist facility Managers on process and engineering change and testing. * Working with management, review and write SOPs and build documents. * Identifies lab facilities issues by determining root cause, works with the facility management team to implement corrective and preventive actions. * Works with outside contractors on construction. Interprets blue prints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagram, drawings and design specification review. * Makes routine, periodic inspections of facility to determine predictive maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdown of lab facilities and/or machinery. * Tests, inspects, and troubleshoots lab equipment installation and reports problems to management. * Supports on-call response by maintaining a cell phone while on-call. * Takes ownership of customer service interface to key clients to whom services are provided. Raises gaps in services provided through appropriate channels. * Responds to emergency calls and equipment problems. * Other tasks as assigned. Education, Qualifications and Requirements: * Requires a High School Diploma. * Education or technical training in a related field may substitute for a High School Diploma. * 10+ years experience in cGMP or regulated facilities required. * Experience with GxP environment support requirement and compliance needs. * Experience maintaining facilities of 100,000 square feet or greater required. * Experience in HVAC, Package, Air Handler maintenance & troubleshooting. * Maintenance Technician Competencies: HVAC/Certification. * Machine Shop experience. * Knowledgeable and experience in the following technical areas: Utility Plant Operations/ Maintenance, Lab Process Equipment/ System Maintenance, and HVAC Operations/ Maintenance. * Knowledge and experience in the following construction trades, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, sheet metal fabrication, welding/brazing, construction, or repair is required. * Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical DDC systems. * Strong operational knowledge of fire control panels and ability to perform complex troubleshooting. * Thorough knowledge and understanding of fire suppression systems and their installation and maintenance. * Strong operational knowledge of Emergency Generators, Transfer Gear control panels and ability to perform troubleshooting. * Building Management System Operational Knowledge. * Utility Plant Technician Competencies: Central Utility Plant Operational, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting knowledge of miscellaneous equipment (Purified Production Units, Water Distribution Systems, Water Softeners, Chillers, Boilers, Emergency Power Systems, and UPS. * Some locations contain exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, odors, dirt and dust, humidity, hot and. cold temperatures, heights, which require continuous awareness of safe working procedures and policies. * May be required to work outside during inclement weather and adverse working conditions . * Walking, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds required. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. * Ability to read and understand SOP's, schematics and blueprints. * Will have advanced understanding of mechanical theory and application to building systems in a commercial and/or industrial environment. * Will be able to perform advanced troubleshooting and building repairs and to install associated equipment and accessories according to applicable standards. * Must be an expert in the operation of all types of hand tools and shop equipment utilized in the building maintenance trade. * Must have a high degree of problem solving and decision making skills. * Must be professional and ethical in all activities and relations. * Excellent team-oriented interpersonal communication skills. * Excellent time management, scheduling, organizational skills, and attention to detail. * Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. * Must be analytical, flexible, innovative, and self-motivated.
